Biography
American lyric soprano, Laura Coleman, is Houston’s best-kept secret (for now). Critically acclaimed, she is known for her clear, “bell-like” tone (Houston Chronicle), comic wit, and an absolute command of the stage.
Laura recently made her debut with the Houston chapter of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society as “Gianetta” in “The Gondoliers.” She captivated a sold-out audience with her charm and “top notes [that were] a wonder to hear…” (Houston Press).
In addition to comedic stage endeavors, Laura can also be heard contributing her talents and leadership to various churches in the Houston-area. In 2024, she was the soprano soloist in Fauré’s “Requiem” with Church of the Epiphany. In July 2027, she will be traveling overseas with the Church of St. John the Divine to partake in an Evensong Residency at the world-renowned Durham Cathedral.
Her creative spirit and business acumen have contributed to the resounding success of the American Music Academy, which opened it’s second location in January 2026. Alongside her husband, Laura has brought elite music education to the area, and developed programs to promote musical excellence, performing artistry, and philanthropy to students of all ages and skill levels.
Known for her preparedness and collaborative spirit, Laura is thrilled to return to the performance world and connect with new audiences.
